Trustee Patterson called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Trustee Corey was present. Also present was Administrator David Duckworth and Law Director Tom Swope. Trustee Romano and Fiscal Officer John Wahle were absent.

 

Vineyard Community Pastor Jim Toy gave the opening prayer.

 

Trustee Corey led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Presentation

Battalion Chief Douglas Wehmeyer and Lieutenant Jason Todd were presented the National Firemark Award from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company by local agent Robert Walker for the heroic rescue of an accident victim in October 2009. Liberty Mutual Insurance also gave each a trip to Disneyland and  Deerfield Township Fire Department was presented a $10,000 check.

Accounting Manager Jennifer Wagner presented the agenda item.

 

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to approve Purchase Orders #10-14491, 14511, 14526 through 14528, 14545, 14546, 14548, 14560, 14561 and 14565. Motion carried.

 

Board Action – New Business

Community Development

Planning Manager Hayfaa Wadih presented Case 2010-059 Mr. Clean Car Wash Revised Stage 3 Plan.

 

Hike Hershberger, representing P & G Mr. Clean Car Wash, spoke about the request.

 

Brady Harding, architect for Interband Design Forum, spoke on the addition.

 

Trustee Patterson opened the floor to public comment and there was none. A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to close the public portion of the hearing. Motion carried.

 

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to approve staff recommendation and deny the application to revise Stage 3 for Mr. Clean Car Wash. Motion carried.

 

Community Development Director Lois McKnight presented Case 2008-339 Stage 3 Extension for Palmera Apartments.

 

A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to grant an extension of the Stage 3 Detailed Plan approved in Case 2008-339 until October 21, 2010 with the condition that the applicant submits a detailed plan as a Stage 3 Modification for review by staff and approval prior to October 21, 2010 pursuant to Deerfield Township Zoning Resolution in effect at that time. Motion carried.

 

Public Works

Lois McKnight presented the agenda item.

 

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to accept the proposal from Rauch (pronounce Roush) Excavating Inc and authorize the administrator to sign all applicable documents for this project. Motion carried.

 

Administration

Lois McKnight presented the agenda item.

                       

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson  to approve the lease with Guy Ashmore, dba Deerfield Township Farmers Market and authorize the Township Administrator to execute the lease. Motion carried.

 

Approval of Minutes

The Trustees continued approval of April 13, 2010 regular meeting minutes until May 11, 2010.

 

Consent Agenda

Fiscal Officer

A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to approve Warrants 56666 through 56782. Motion carried.

 

A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to approve the new pay rate of $20.27 per hour effective April 18, 2010 for Firefighter/Paramedic Bryant Davis per the provisions of the bargaining agreement. Motion carried.

 

A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to approve the new pay rate of $20.27 per hour effective April 18, 2010 for Firefighter/Paramedic Dan Thatcher per the provisions of the bargaining agreement. Motion carried.

 

Reports

Trustee Corey spoke about attending with Trustee Patterson the Warren County Engineer’s Annual Report meeting.

 

Trustee Patterson spoke about attending with Trustee Corey and Lois McKnight the grand opening of Champion Elite on April 24.

 

David Duckworth spoke about attending with Parks Director Joel Smiddy and Public Relations Director Fran Klatte a meeting with the general manager of Deerfield Towne Center. Deerfield Towne Center is having a festival on June 19.
