Work Session 

Trustee Corey opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Trustee Patterson and Trustee Romano was present. Also present was Administrator Dan Evers and Law Director Tom Swope.

 Pastor Heather Webster, Deerfield United Methodist Church, gave the offering of prayer.

 Trustee Pete Patterson led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 Presentation

Ohio State Representative Shannon Jones gave a presentation on the state budget.

 Fiscal Officer

John Wahle presented the financial reports and other agenda items.

 A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve Purchase Orders #09-12834, 12840, 12841, 12875 and 12882. Motion carried unanimously.

 A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve Warrants #55025 through 55104. Motion carried unanimously.

 A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Romano to approve Resolution 2009-47 A Resolution Directing Payment of Township Expenses, Declaring an Emergency and Dispensing with the Second Reading. Motion carried unanimously.

 Parks Department

Dan Evers presented the agenda item.

 A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve the proposals for Service Supply Limited and ME Company at a cost of $78,890 for the Schappacher Park Restroom Facility Improvements and authorize the township administrator to execute all necessary documentation for the contract agreement. Motion carried unanimously.

 Public Works

Dan Evers presented the agenda items.

 A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to accept the two proposals from Charles H. Hamilton Company and authorize the township administrator to execute any applicable documents necessary to effectuate the repairs. Motion carried unanimously.

 Cottell Park Improvements

Dan Evers presented the item.

 A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to accept and approve the proposed improvements to Cottell Park and authorize the township administrator to execute any applicable documents necessary to effectuate the improvements. Motion carried unanimously.

 Community Development

Lois McKnight, Community Development Director, presented the Business Blitz results.

 Administration

Dan Evers presented the agenda items.

 A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Romano to approve payment of Invoice #09039-00003 from ME Companies in the amount of $5,075 from the TIF 98 General Reserve Fund. Motion carried unanimously.

 A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve payment to CDS Associates Inc., Invoice #0046147 in the amount of $1,750 for their professional services through May 31, 2009 from the TIF 98 General Reserve Fund. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Romano to approve the renewal of the OTARMA Insurance Package for $6,000,000 coverage at a cost of $84,805 and authorize the Township Administrator to execute all documents necessary to effect the renewal. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve Resolution 2009-48 A Resolution Authorizing the Township Administrator of Deerfield Township, Warren County, Ohio to enter into agreements for the township to become a member of the Ohio Benefits Cooperative, Inc. waiving a second reading and declaring an emergency. Motion carried unanimously.

 Executive Session

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to enter executive session to discuss collective bargaining, impending and pending litigation. Motion carried unanimously.
