Regular Meeting
May 19, 2009
Trustee Corey called the meeting to order at 5:47 p.m. Trustee Romano was present. Also present was Administrator Dan Evers, Fiscal Officer John Wahle and Law Director Tom Swope. Trustee Patterson was absent.
Executive Session
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to enter executive session to discuss personnel appointments and pending litigation. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to return to regular session. Motion carried.
Patrick Vail, Montgomery Community Church Director of Elementary Ministries, gave the opening prayer.
Trustee Romano led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Presentation
Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims announced the promotion of Lieutenant Brian Tinch to Major and to Warren County Jail Administrator. Sheriff Sims introduced Lieutenant Mike Highley as Post Commander of the Deerfield Township Post.
Public Comment
Richard Royce (Cincinnati Capital Properties) discussed property on Shore Drive. Mr. Royce will give a progress report at the June 2 meeting.

Fiscal Officer
John Wahle presented the agenda items.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve Purchase Orders #09-12613, 12616, 12619, 12620, 12624, 12638, 12639, 12648, 12651 and 12658. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve Resolution 2009-35 A Resolution Directing Payment of Township Expenses, Declaring an Emergency and Dispensing with the Second Reading. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to authorize Fiscal Officer John Wahle to pay the Debt Service payments due for the Deerfield Township Series 2008 Bond in the amount of $168,239.22. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to authorize Fiscal Officer John Wahle to pay the Mason City School District $1,231,760.58 from the appropriate TIF fund as determined by the Fiscal Officer. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to authorize Fiscal Officer John Wahle to pay the $750 administration fees for the 2007 TIF account. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to authorize Fiscal Officer John Wahle to pay $108,353.96 to the Warren County Career Center from the appropriate TIF fund as determined by the Fiscal Officer. Motion carried.

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve Resolution 2009-36 A Resolution Accepting Public Streets for Maintenance and Setting Speed Limits on Wild Cherry Way, Hollow Tree Court, Wilder Woods Way, Blossom Court, Cedar Creek Court, Palmetto Drive, Helendale Court, Clear Creek Court and Cherry Leaf Court in the Cherry Brook Subdivision, Deerfield Township, Dispensing with the Second Reading and Declaring an Emergency. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to approve Resolution 2009-37 A Resolution Accepting Public Streets for Maintenance and Setting Speed Limits on Heritage Woods Drive in the Woods Subdivision, Deerfield Township, Dispensing with the Second Reading and Declaring an Emergency. Motion carried.

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve payment of Invoice #3610 from CUC in the amount of $12,500 from the TIF 98 General Reserve Fund. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve payment of Invoice #09039-00002 from ME Companies in the amount of $5,982 from the TIF 98 General Reserve Fund. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to approve Resolution 2009-38 A Resolution Objecting to Petition to Annex 155.24 Acres, Including 38.52 Acres in Deerfield Township, to the Village of South Lebanon, Waiving a Second Reading and Declaring an Emergency. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to approve the meeting minutes of May 5, 2009 Regular Session as presented. Motion carried.

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve Warrants #54772 through 54843. Motion carried.
Human Resources
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve the attendance of Peggy Monjar to Frank Gates 2009 Ohio State Fund Workers’ Compensation Seminar on May 20 at The Manor House for a cost of $30. Motion carried.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to approve hiring Kristin Hebel at a rate of $10 per hour as a Seasonal Camp Counselor pending successful drug screening and background check. Motion carried.
Reports
Trustee Corey spoke about attending the Ohio Public Works Commission meeting regarding money for public works projects.
Trustee Romano spoke about township employee Matt Pulfer being redeployed to Iraq for his second tour of duty.
Dan Evers spoke about Taste of Deerfield on June 13 and township participation in the Mason Memorial Day Parade.
