Work Session
Trustee Corey called the meeting to order at 5:56 p.m. Trustee Patterson was present and Trustee Romano entered the meeting at approximately 6:15 p.m. Also present were Township Administrator Dan Evers, Law Director Tom Swope and Fiscal Officer John Wahle.
Trustee Patterson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Warren County Humane Association Presentation
Executive Director Mari Lee Schwarzwalder gave a presentation to the Board.
Purchase Orders and Warrants
John Wahle presented the agenda item.
A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to approve Purchase Orders #08-11428, 11433, 11452, 11453, 11455, 11456, 11466, 11467, 11471 and Warrants #53478 through 533511. Motion carried.
Fire Department Outside Training Request
Chief Eisele presented the agenda item.
A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to approve the attendance of Firefighter/Paramedic Matthew Young at the OH Fire Academy Structure Fire Attach “101” Course on November 1 and 2, 2008 at a cost of $280. Motion carried.
Approval to Hire Part Time Firefighters
Chief Eisele presented the agenda item.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve the hiring of Douglas Bingaman, Nicholas Bomske, David Brown, James Butler, Steven Hess, James Klems, Charles Rielage, Andrew Register and Joshua Rothenberger as part time Firefighter/Paramedics at a rate of $16 per hour contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen. Start dates will be determined after receipt of drug screen results. Motion carried unanimously.
2008 Crack Sealing Program
Eric Reiners presented the agenda item.
A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Romano to authorize to award the 2008 Crack Sealing Contract to American Pavements Inc. at a cost not to exceed $30,000 and authorize the Township Administrator to sign any applicable documents. Motion carried unanimously.
Deerfield Township Park Rules
Snyder House Rules
Parks Director Joel Smiddy presented updated Snyder House Rules. A discussion followed.
General Park Rules
Joel Smiddy presented revised General Park Rules. A discussion followed and revised rules will be presented at a meeting for Board approval.
A discussion was held on reserving park shelters.
Review and Update of Resolution 2004-80 Resolution to Require Registration and Regulation of Transient Vendors.
Tom Swope led a discussion on changes to Resolution 2004-80. An updated Resolution will be presented at a Board meeting with one reading.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to take a five minute break. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to return to regular session. Motion carried unanimously.
Cincinnati USA Partnership/Economic Development Strategy
Dan Evers presented a targeted economic development strategy and led a Board discussion.
Executive Session
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to enter Executive Session to discuss property acquisition, disposition and collective bargaining. Motion carried unanimously.
