Work Session

Trustee Dan Corey called the meeting to order at 5:46 p.m. All members of the Board were present. Also present was Dan Evers, Township Administrator, Tom Swope, Law Director and John Wahle, Fiscal Officer.

Trustee Romano led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Trustee Romano requested everyone present to join in a moment of silence for the family of Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin.

Health Insurance Presentation

Dan Evers introduced Gene Rau and Pam Rose from McGohan Brabender. They presented information regarding options for a township health insurance program.  Mr. Rau presented various plans and rates for the Board’s consideration.  A discussion followed regarding different aspects of the proposal.

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to take a five minute break. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to return to regular session. Motion carried unanimously.

Purchase Orders, Super Blankets, Warrants and Payments

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve Purchase Orders #10966-3, 10967-3, 11016-4, 11043-2, 11044-4, 11046-2, 11148, 11149, 11151, 11153 and 11157. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve Warrants #52486 through 52586. Motion carried unanimously.

Part Time Firefighter Pay Rate Increase

Acting Fire Chief Chris Eisele presented information on increasing hourly rates of part time fire personnel.

JRS Full Application

Dan Evers presented information on applying for the State of Ohio Job Ready Sites Program for the Kingswood property.

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson, to authorize the execution of an agreement with Poggemeyer Design Group for the completion and submittal of a full application to the Ohio Department of Development Job Ready Sites Program, completion of an ALTA survey at a cost of $38,400 as well as the execution of a contract for completion of a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment with TTL Associates, Inc. at a cost of $7,090.  This includes the execution of all necessary documentation. Motion carried unanimously.

Wage Continuation Agreement

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson, to approve the Wage Continuation Agreement between Deerfield Township and Lt. Joseph McElroy and authorize Township Administrator Dan Evers to execute the Agreement on behalf of the Township.  It is also recommended that the Board approve the temporary pay rate change effective April 20, 2008 from $20.44 an hour for a 48 hour week to $24.53 per hour for a 40 hour week and the reinstatement of 12 hours of sick pay for April 15, 2008. Motion carried unanimously.

Sick Time Payout Request

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve the payout of two hundred ninety one (291) sick time hours to Rick Waldbillig and that this payout would be processed in Pay Period #10 ending May 3, 2008. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive Session

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to enter executive session to discuss employee discipline and real estate acquisition. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to adjourn the meeting at 11:45 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
